C♥M014 - Jaakko - Ciao Jaakko

We met with Jaakko a couple of years ago when he sent us an email asking where were the shows happening in this city, because he couldn't find any. We told him it was because there weren't actually any shows here and invited him for beer. We became friends, and then, a couple of months ago he told us he was moving to a stupid northern country where it snows in may. Rotor Perdition, overwhelmed by the news and still in shock from learning that Jaakko had named his newborn son after him, wrote a very awkward song (coming soon, we guess) and we prepared this goodbye present that got downgraded into a birthday present when he texted us that he was staying for one more year:

Jaakko - Ciao Jaakko 7"
A. Rosa Mota
B1. The Girl from the National Coalition Party
B2. The Day Britney Dies

Now you might think "wait, haven't these songs already been released twice already, first on We Were Never Boring's "The Girl from the National Coalition Party" EP then on Cachalot Midinette's "Riga" cassette (with three other stellar songs)?!" And you wouldn't be wrong.

You see, these three songs are so good we had to release them a third time, but in order to get out of our rut we chose to release them as a 7". We blackmailed Encre into designing it for free and we had the cheapest company we could find do it and it sounds horrible it looks beautiful. Just one copy was made:

Still, duly anticipating an overwhelming amount of complaint emails, we've put this release on the Free Music Archive and you can also download it without any kind of hassle here: https://mega.co.nz/#!xo9kxYra!MXh_7wOol19qQ6garOuyPIT-rKbGGLOqdnZ7roTTnzQ

C♥M011: Kill! Kill! Death! Death! vs. Rotor Perdition

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are immensely proud to bring you Kill! Kill! Death! Death! vs. Rotor Perdition !!

After a mind-blowingly great debut album and a series of impressive singles, Kill! Kill! Death! Death! honed their skills further and deliver an astounding new track, "Syndicate of Death", complete with deadpan-then-manic vocals, airtight production and amazing feedback.

Rotor Perdition's Black Cat Gorilla is violent, dark and heavy, it's filled with the kind of overwhelming tension that will sound familiar to those who listened to his tough-as-nails debut tape.

C♥M013: Jaakko - Riga

Cachalot Midinette is proud to release "Riga", Jaakko's amazing debut cassette, which collects 2 EPs previously only available digitally on We Were Never Being Boring, with the outstanding title track thrown in as a bonus.

Channeling Jens Lekman ("Rosa Mota"), Jonathan Richman ("Mittens") and the Mountain Goats ("Riga"), Italian-born Jaakko excells at turning fragile, bittersweet songs into fantastic pop jewels. These 7 songs are impressive, quietly moving attempts to make sense and come to terms with adulthood, looking a place to come home and finding happiness.

C♥M012: Rotor Perdition - Be That As It May

C♥M012 is Rotor Perdition's fantastic third album, "Be That As It May".

RP continues his exploration of the teenage experience through overdriven, catchy pop songs. In his new album, he focused on honing his skills, turning his mid-fi compositions into melody-driven behemoths. It's his best record so far, an impressive collection of maximalist pop songs, created through the channeling of teen feelings.

C♥M009: Fuck Buddies - Swim EP

Fuck Buddies, Sebastien Duclos' devastating acoustic project, with spare beats and occasional keyboards, has been going on for eight years, during which he released 10 eps and lps on various labels.
This EP is a collection of four songs about "death, doubts, friends and new places", and it covers FB's spectrum, from the soft eulogy "The Day Mothra Won" to the tense, beat driven "Swim" to the harmonium-infused "The Right Place".

As with his previous releases, "Swim" has a bare, hauntingly sincere quality that makes his songs instantly familiar and very difficult to forget.

C♥M010: Rotor Perdition - Home EP

C♥M010 is a new two-song cassette by Rotor Perdition. "Home" is a gateway-song between "Hard Limits" and his upcoming "Be That As It May" while "Streets of Philadelphia" is a non-ironic Bruce Springsteen cover originally recorded between "Say It Like It Feels" and "Hard Limits", for a compilation on an infamous Internet message board. Both are great.

Here's what he might have said about it on his tumblr : "When i was 13 or 14, i would go to the supermarket and just steal things. I stole a lot of hard rock CDs and some videotapes. The last thing I stole, the one for which i was caught, was a Bruce Springsteen compilation. I've only recently started enjoying his songs again, for so long they were connected to a feeling of shame and the disappointed look on my dad's face when he came to pick me up." But of course, he didn't.

Awesome art by Encre, as usual.

C♥M008: Rotor Perdition - Hard Limits

C♥M008 is Rotor Perdition's fantastic sophomore album, "Hard Limits".

After the noisy hiss hell of "Say It Like It Feels" Rotor Perdition (SD, French, 30) chose to explore the poppier, more melodic potentials of his formula ("keyboard, overdrive and guts" he told us once), perfecting his unique sound while shifting from regrets to remorse. And believe us, it's been a while since "unique" sounded this great.

He told us "Hard Limits" was heavily influenced by his non-ironic viewing of Glee's first season and memories. It's about trying to recapture the bittersweetness of teen age by re-enlivening it and keeping nostalgia at bay. It's an outstanding end of the school year record, an early summer pop monster, full of teenage hopes and dreams.
